Comparing the energy production methods ranging from Windpower, Nuclear power, Solar power, Gas-fired Power, to Coal-fired power, Windpower emitted the fewest CO2, one of the main two anthropogenic greenhouse gases.

The global wind industry installed 93 GW of new capacity in 2020 that brought total global wind power capacity up to 743 GW and helped the world to avoid over 1.1 billion tonnes of CO2 annually.

Since the world's first offshore wind farm was constructed in Vindeby, Denmark in 1991, offshore wind power has been recognized as one of the world's most promising forms of green energy.
